FAQ
Everything you need to know about Pact
Getting Started
What is Pact?
Pact is an accountability platform where you commit to daily goals and show up with a group to keep each other on track. You declare what you're working on, check in every day, and your group holds you accountable.
How do I join a challenge?
You can join a challenge two ways — through an invite link shared by a creator, or by browsing public challenges on the Explore page. Once you join, declare your commitments and start checking in on day one.
How do I create a challenge?
From your dashboard click "Start a Challenge". Set your title, description, duration, and visibility. You can invite members via a shareable link once the challenge is created.
Can I join multiple challenges at once?
Yes — you can be a member of as many challenges as you want. Each challenge has its own feed, leaderboard, and check in. Your dashboard shows all your active challenges. Note: free accounts can only create one active challenge at a time. Upgrade to Premium to run up to three.
What are the plan tiers?
Free accounts can create one active challenge with up to 10 members. Premium ($24/month) lets you run up to three active challenges with up to 50 members each. Joining challenges as a member is free on any plan, though some challenges may have an entry fee set by the creator.
Can I install Pact on my phone?
Yes — Pact works as a Progressive Web App (PWA). On iPhone, open makeapact.app in Safari, tap the Share button, and select "Add to Home Screen" for a native app-like experience.
Check Ins
What counts as a valid check in?
A check in is your daily post describing what you did toward your commitment. It's honor system — write honestly about what you actually did. Your group is counting on your integrity.
What happens if I miss a day?
Your streak resets to zero but you can keep going. Missing a day doesn't remove you from the challenge. Show up the next day — that's what matters.
Can I check in more than once a day?
No — one check in per day per challenge. Make it count.
Is there a deadline for checking in each day?
Check ins are due by end of day. If life gets in the way, you have until the end of the following day to submit a late check in — it will be marked with a clock icon so your group knows. After that the day is locked.
What is the completion share card?
At any point during or after a challenge, you can generate a shareable card showing your progress — your check-in count, streak, and how far you've come. Share it to social media or save it to your camera roll.
Commitments
What are commitments?
Commitments are the specific things you're pledging to do every day during the challenge. Examples: 10,000 steps, read 20 pages, no alcohol, 30 minutes of Spanish practice.
Can I keep my commitments private?
Yes — you can mark individual commitment items as private. Your group will see that you have a private commitment but not what it is. At least one commitment must be public.
Can I change my commitments after joining?
Yes — go to the challenge page and tap the 📋 Commitments button to update your commitments at any time.
Community
What are nudges?
Nudges are a way to encourage group members who haven't checked in yet. Go to the Members tab and tap 👊 "You got this" or 🫂 "We miss you" — they'll get a notification and email.
What do the reactions mean?
🔥 Fire means they're crushing it. 💪 Strong means solid work. ❤️ Love is general support. Tap any reaction on a check in post to show your support.
How does the leaderboard work?
Members are ranked by current streak — how many consecutive days they've checked in. Completion rate (total check ins divided by days elapsed) is shown as a secondary stat.
Payments & Fees
Is Pact free to use?
Creating an account and joining free challenges is always free. Some challenges have entry fees set by the creator. Pact takes a 15% platform fee on paid challenges.
Who sets the entry fee?
Challenge creators set their own entry fees. Paid challenges have a minimum entry fee of $10.
Are entry fees refundable?
Entry fees are non-refundable once a challenge has started. If you believe you are eligible for a refund or have a billing issue, please contact us at support@makeapact.app and we will review your request within 5 business days.
How do creator payouts work?
Creators connect their own Stripe account to receive payouts directly. When a member pays to join, the platform fee is deducted automatically and the remainder is sent to the creator's connected account.
How do I contact support?
For any questions, issues, or refund requests email us at support@makeapact.app. We typically respond within 1-2 business days.
