Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Pact ("the Platform"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Platform. You must be at least 18 years old to use Pact.

2. What Pact Is

Pact is a platform that enables users to create and participate in accountability challenges. Pact provides the technology infrastructure only. We are not responsible for the content, terms, or rules set by challenge creators.

3. Creator Responsibility

Challenge creators are solely responsible for:

• The rules and terms of their challenges
• Any commitments or outcomes communicated to their members
• Disputes between themselves and their members
• Ensuring their challenges comply with applicable laws

Pact is a payment facilitator only. We collect entry fees on behalf of creators and remit funds minus our platform fee. We are not a party to any agreement between creators and members.

4. Platform Fee

Pact charges a platform fee of 15% on all entry fees collected. This fee is non-refundable once a challenge has begun. Creators set their own entry fees above our minimum of $10 per member.

5. Subscriptions

Pact offers a free tier and a Premium subscription at $24 per month. Premium subscriptions are billed monthly and renew automatically until cancelled. You may cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you will retain Premium access until then. We do not offer prorated refunds for unused subscription time. Downgrading to the free tier does not affect existing active challenges but new challenges will be subject to free tier limits.

6. User Conduct

You agree not to:

• Post harmful, offensive, or illegal content
• Harass or intimidate other members
• Create fraudulent challenges or misrepresent challenge terms
• Attempt to circumvent our payment systems
• Use the platform for any unlawful purpose

7. Account Termination

Pact reserves the right to suspend or permanently terminate any account that violates these Terms of Service, engages in fraudulent activity, or causes harm to other users or the platform. In cases of termination due to policy violation, entry fees already collected are non-refundable. We will make reasonable efforts to notify you of any account action via the email associated with your account.

8. Refund Policy

Entry fees are non-refundable once a challenge has started. If a challenge is cancelled by the creator before it begins, members will receive a full refund minus payment processing fees. Pact reserves the right to issue refunds at our discretion in cases of creator fraud or platform error. Approved refunds will be processed within 30 days and returned to the original payment method.

9. Disclaimers

Pact is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee uninterrupted service, data preservation, or the conduct of any creator or member. Use the platform at your own risk.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Pact and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform, including but not limited to disputes between members and creators, platform downtime, or loss of data.

11. Governing Law

These Terms of Service are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising under these terms shall be resolved in the courts of Virginia.

12. Changes to Terms

We may update these terms at any time. We will notify users of significant changes via email or in-app notification. Continued use of the platform after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
